Bluebonnet Beagle Rescue started accidentally, when we began to take in beagles needing homes one at a time. We have loved the breed for many, many years and beagles have been a part of our lives for over 40 years. The need for a real rescue organization in the area became apparent with each tear we shed after turning down a beagle in need due to lack of space etc.
Soon we had to make a tough decision. Did we want to keep on as we were or move out of our home in a residential subdivision and forego retirement for some extra years to move someplace that we could start a real rescue operation.
So, we went to the dogs, so to speak, and moved out of the city and into the country outside of Houston, Texas.
Bluebonnet is a Texas non-profit corporation and has attained "tax exempt" status with the IRS. Our goal is to take beagles from abusive or neglectful situations, to save them from euthanasia, to take strays and find "forever" homes for them.
The officers and directors of Bluebonnet are Pat Coffey, Bob Coffey and Elaine Wright.
We are very proud of the number of beagles who have passed through Bluebonnet and into their forever homes. We are also very proud of the loving families and individuals who have taken these wonderful dogs into their lives and hearts.
We could not have done, nor could we continue to do this work if it were not for the wonderful folks who support us through their generous donations. They are the real reason that rescue works. They are our angels.
Within this website you will find listings of beagles currently available through Bluebonnet. There are also several links to rescue groups elsewhere. We encourage you to read about the merry little hound known as the beagle to see if this breed is right for you.
Or, feel free to send us a donation. We happily accept food, crates, vitamins, leads, collars, bowls, shampoo, toys, and of course, MONEY.

HELP, HELP -We are in need of people with big hearts willing to accept unconditional love. Short term foster families are desperately needed so that we don't have to turn anyone away. Please volunteer.

YOU MAY HAVE RECENTLY WATCHED THE DOCUMENTARY "DEALING DOGS". THE USDA AND US ATTORNEY'S OFFICE CONFISCATED 39 BEAGLES FROM MARTIN CREEK KENNELS AND SENT THEM TO US. YOUR HELP IS STILL NEEDED !!
